Vidur Niti in Hindi -

महात्मा विदुर धर्म के अवतार माने जाते हैं। माण्डव ऋषि के श्राप से उन्हें शूद्रयोनि में जन्म लेना पड़ा। ये महाराज विचित्रवीर्य की दासी के गर्भ से उत्पन्न हुए थे। इस प्रकार ये पाण्डु और धृतराष्ट्र के एक तरह से सगे भाई थे। विदुर बड़े ही बुद्धिमान, नीतिज्ञ, धर्मज्ञ, विद्वान, सदाचारी एवं भगवदभक्त थे।

“विदुर नीति” महाभारत का एक प्रमुख भाग है जिसमे महात्मा विदुर जी ने राजा धृतराष्ट्र को लोक-परलोक में कल्याण करने वाली बातें बताई हैं। आइये हम उनके कुछ अनमोल वचनों को जानते हैं :

महात्मा विदुर की नीति

श्लोक 1 :

निषेवते प्रशस्तानी निन्दितानी न सेवते।
अनास्तिकः श्रद्धान एतत् पण्डितलक्षणम्।।

अर्थ: जो अच्छे कर्म करता है और बुरे कर्मों से दूर रहता है, साथ ही जो ईश्वर में भरोसा रखता है और श्रद्धालु है, उसके ये सद्गुण पंडित होने के लक्षण हैं।

श्लोक 2 :

न ह्रश्यत्यात्मसम्माने नावमानेन तप्यते।
गंगो ह्रद इवाक्षोभ्यो य: स पंडित उच्यते।।

अर्थ: जो अपना आदर-सम्मान होने पर ख़ुशी से फूल नहीं उठता, और अनादर होने पर क्रोधित नहीं होता तथा गंगाजी के कुण्ड के समान जिसका मन अशांत नहीं होता, वह ज्ञानी कहलाता है।।

श्लोक 3 :

अनाहूत: प्रविशति अपृष्टो बहु भाषते।
अविश्वस्ते विश्वसिति मूढ़चेता नराधम: ।।

अर्थ: मूढ़ चित्त वाला नीच व्यक्ति बिना बुलाये ही अंदर चला आता है, बिना पूछे ही बोलने लगता है तथा जो विश्वाश करने योग्य नहीं हैं उनपर भी विश्वाश कर लेता है।

श्लोक 4 :

अर्थम् महान्तमासाद्य विद्यामैश्वर्यमेव वा।
विचरत्यसमुन्नद्धो य: स पंडित उच्यते।।

अर्थ: जो बहुत धन, विद्या तथा ऐश्वर्यको पाकर भी इठलाता नहीं चलता, वह पंडित कहलाता है।

श्लोक 5 :

एक: पापानि कुरुते फलं भुङ्क्ते महाजन: ।
भोक्तारो विप्रमुच्यन्ते कर्ता दोषेण लिप्यते।।

अर्थ: मनुष्य अकेला पाप करता है और बहुत से लोग उसका आनंद उठाते हैं। आनंद उठाने वाले तो बच जाते हैं; पर पाप करने वाला दोष का भागी होता है।

श्लोक 6 :

एकं हन्यान्न वा हन्यादिषुर्मुक्तो धनुष्मता।
बुद्धिर्बुद्धिमतोत्सृष्टा हन्याद् राष्ट्रम सराजकम्।।

अर्थ: किसी धनुर्धर वीर के द्वारा छोड़ा हुआ बाण संभव है किसी एक को भी मारे या न मारे। मगर बुद्धिमान द्वारा प्रयुक्त की हुई बुद्धि राजा के साथ-साथ सम्पूर्ण राष्ट्र का विनाश कर सकती है।।

श्लोक 7 :

एकमेवाद्वितीयम तद् यद् राजन्नावबुध्यसे।
सत्यम स्वर्गस्य सोपानम् पारवारस्य नैरिव।।

अर्थ: विदुर धृतराष्ट्र को समझाते हुए कहते हैं : राजन ! जैसे समुद्र के पार जाने के लिए नाव ही एकमात्र साधन है, उसी प्रकार स्वर्ग के लिए सत्य ही एकमात्र सीढ़ी है, कुछ और नहीं, किन्तु आप इसे नहीं समझ रहे हैं।

श्लोक 8 :

एको धर्म: परम श्रेय: क्षमैका शान्तिरुक्तमा।
विद्वैका परमा तृप्तिरहिंसैका सुखावहा।।

अर्थ: केवल धर्म ही परम कल्याणकारक है, एकमात्र क्षमा ही शांति का सर्वश्रेष्ठ उपाय है। एक विद्या ही परम संतोष देने वाली है और एकमात्र अहिंसा ही सुख देने वाली है।

श्लोक 9 :

द्वाविमौ पुरुषौ राजन स्वर्गस्योपरि तिष्ठत: ।
प्रभुश्च क्षमया युक्तो दरिद्रश्च प्रदानवान्।।

अर्थ: विदुर धृतराष्ट्र से कहते हैं : राजन ! ये दो प्रकार के पुरुष स्वर्ग के भी ऊपर स्थान पाते हैं – शक्तिशाली होने पर भी क्षमा करने वाला और निर्धन होने पर भी दान देनेवाला ।

श्लोक 10 :

त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारम नाशनमात्मन: ।
काम: क्रोधस्तथा लोभस्तस्मादेतत्त्रयं त्यजेत्।।

अर्थ: काम, क्रोध, और लोभ – ये आत्मा का नाश करने वाले नरक के तीन दरवाजे हैं, अतः इन तीनो को त्याग देना चाहिए।

श्लोक 11 :

पन्चाग्न्यो मनुष्येण परिचर्या: प्रयत्नत: ।
पिता माताग्निरात्मा च गुरुश्च भरतर्षभ।।

अर्थ: भरतश्रेष्ठ ! पिता, माता अग्नि,आत्मा और गुरु – मनुष्य को इन पांच अग्नियों की बड़े यत्न से सेवा करनी चाहिए।

श्लोक 12 :

षड् दोषा: पुरुषेणेह हातव्या भूतिमिच्छिता।
निद्रा तन्द्रा भयं क्रोध आलस्यं दीर्घसूत्रता।।

अर्थ: ऐश्वर्य या उन्नति चाहने वाले पुरुषों को नींद, तन्द्रा (उंघना ), डर, क्रोध,आलस्य तथा दीर्घसूत्रता (जल्दी हो जाने वाले कामों में अधिक समय लगाने की आदत )- इन छ: दुर्गुणों को त्याग देना चाहिए।

श्लोक 13 :

षडेव तु गुणाः पुंसा न हातव्याः कदाचन।
सत्यं दानमनालस्यमनसूया क्षमा धृतिः।।

अर्थ: मनुष्य को कभी भी सत्य, दान, कर्मण्यता, अनसूया (गुणों में दोष दिखाने की प्रवृत्तिका अभाव ), क्षमा तथा धैर्य – इन छः गुणों का त्याग नहीं करना चाहिए।

श्लोक 14 :

षण्णामात्मनि नित्यानामैश्वर्यं योधिगच्छति।
न स पापैः कुतो नर्थैंर्युज्यते विजेतेँद्रियः।।

अर्थ: मन में नित्य रहने वाले छः शत्रु – काम, क्रोध, लोभ, मोह, मद तथा मात्सर्य को जो वश में कर लेता है, वह जितेन्द्रिय पुरुष पापों से ही लिप्त नहीं होता, फिर उनसे उत्पन्न होने वाले अनर्थों की बात ही क्या है।

श्लोक 15 :

ईर्ष्यी घृणी न संतुष्टः क्रोधनो नित्याशङ्कितः।
परभाग्योपजीवी च षडेते नित्यदुः खिताः।।

अर्थ: ईर्ष्या करने वाला, घृणा करने वाला, असंतोषी, क्रोधी, सदा संकित रहने वाला और दूसरों के भाग्य पर जीवन-निर्वाह करने वाला – ये छः सदा दुखी रहते हैं।

श्लोक 16 :

अष्टौ गुणाः पुरुषं दीपयन्ति
प्रज्ञा च कौल्यं च दमः श्रुतं च।
पराक्रमश्चाबहुभाषिता च
दानं यथाशक्ति कृतज्ञता च।।

अर्थ: बुद्धि, कुलीनता, इन्द्रियनिग्रह, शास्त्रज्ञान, पराक्रम, अधिक न बोलना, शक्ति के अनुसार दान और कृतज्ञता – ये आठ गन पुरुष की ख्याति बढ़ा देते हैं।

श्लोक 17 :

प्राप्यापदं न व्यथते कदाचि-
दुद्योगमन्विच्छति चाप्रमत्तः।
दुःखं च काले सहते महात्मा
धुरन्धरस्तस्य जिताः सप्तनाः।।

अर्थ: जो धुरंधर महापुरुष आपत्ति पड़ने पर कभी दुखी नहीं होता, बल्कि सावधानी के साथ उद्योग का आश्रय लेता है तथा समय पर दुःख सहता है, उसके शत्रु तो पराजित ही हैं।

श्लोक 18 :

यो नोद्धतं कुरुते जातु वेषं
न पौरुषेणापि विकत्थतेन्यान।
न मूर्छित: कटुकान्याह किञ्चित्
प्रियं सदा तं कुरुते जानो हि।।

अर्थ: जो कभी उद्यंडका-सा वेष नहीं बनाता, दूसरों के सामने अपने पराक्रम की डींग नही हांकता, क्रोध से व्याकुल होने पर भी कटुवचन नहीं बोलता, उस मनुष्य को लोग सदा ही प्यारा बना लेते हैं।

श्लोक 19 :

अनुबंधानपक्षेत सानुबन्धेषु कर्मसु।
सम्प्रधार्य च कुर्वीत न वेगेन समाचरेत्।

अर्थ: किसी प्रयोजन से किये गए कर्मों में पहले प्रयोजन को समझ लेना चाहिए। खूब सोच-विचार कर काम करना चाहिए, जल्दबाजी से किसी काम का आरम्भ नहीं करना चाहिए।

श्लोक 20 :

भक्ष्योत्तमप्रतिच्छन्नं मत्स्यो वडिशमायसम्।
लोभाभिपाती ग्रस्ते नानुबन्धमवेक्षते।।

अर्थ: मछली बढ़िया चारे से ढकी हुई लोहे की कांटी को लोभ में पड़कर निगल जाती है, उससे होने वाले परिणाम पर विचार नहीं करती।
